Unit Overview

This unit builds on pupils’ prior learning by developing greater control, consistency and tactical awareness in net and wall games.

  • Refines sending, receiving and striking skills with increased accuracy and consistency
  • Develops sustained rallies and shot selection in competitive situations
  • Applies positioning and movement to outwit an opponent
  • Introduces simple tactics such as placement, depth and court awareness
  • Encourages decision-making and problem-solving during games
  • Prepares pupils for more formal net and wall sports such as tennis, badminton and volleyball

Unit Outcomes

By the end of this unit, pupils will be able to:

  • Send and return an object with accuracy, control and consistency
  • Sustain rallies and apply appropriate shot selection during games
  • Use positioning and movement to place an opponent under pressure
  • Apply simple tactics such as placement, depth and court awareness
  • Make effective decisions during competitive net and wall games
  • Follow rules, keep score and demonstrate fair play and respect
