Unit Overview

This unit introduces pupils to outdoor and adventurous activities that develop teamwork, problem-solving and communication skills.

  • Develops teamwork and cooperation through group challenges
  • Encourages problem-solving and decision-making in practical situations
  • Introduces following routes, trails and simple instructions
  • Develops communication, leadership and listening skills
  • Encourages resilience, perseverance and positive attitudes
  • Promotes safe participation and respect for others and the environment

Unit Outcomes

By the end of this unit, pupils will be able to:

  • Work effectively as part of a team to solve challenges
  • Follow simple routes, trails or instructions safely
  • Communicate ideas clearly when working in a group
  • Show perseverance and resilience when faced with problems
  • Take on different roles within a team
  • Demonstrate safe and respectful behaviour during activities
